Apple Intelligence pricing, use cases, and first steps
Apple Intelligence is not an app you download. It is a set of helpers tucked into the apps on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad: proofread a text, summarize an email, translate a message, touch up a photo. Since September 2026, Apple has been adding Siri AI, a completely rebuilt Siri, for now in beta and in English.
Apple Intelligence has a free plan. The recommended plan to start with: Included with the device, €0. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.

What Apple Intelligence does
Who it’s for: anyone who works on a recent Mac, iPhone, or iPad and wants a hand without switching tools.
Writing Tools: proofread and rewrite anywhere
You select text in most apps where you write. Apple Intelligence proofreads it, rewrites it in a casual, professional, or concise tone, summarizes it, or pulls out the key points. You can also describe the change you want in your own words.
Summaries: emails, messages, web pages, calls
A summary of a few lines appears at the top of a long email, an unread conversation, or a web page in Safari. Audio recordings in notes and phone calls can also be summarized.
Live Translation
Your messages are translated as the conversation goes. During a phone or FaceTime call, the translation appears while the other person speaks. With AirPods, a conversation with the person in front of you is translated live.
Also
Create an event or a reminder in one sentence
Shortcuts: describe an automation
Safari: organized tabs and alerts

Apple Intelligence pricing
Apple says a paid extended access will be offered later. Its price is not published. The ChatGPT extension works without an account; a ChatGPT subscription remains optional. Checked on October 3, 2026.

What the free plan includes
Everything is included with compatible devices, with no subscription. Features that go through Apple’s servers have a daily limit: Siri AI, photo editing, Image Playground, and some requests in Shortcuts.
Nova’s advice
There is nothing to buy. If your device is compatible, update it and use it. Do not change your Mac or iPhone for Apple Intelligence alone: for long requests in French, an assistant like ChatGPT or Claude does more today.
A first try, in 2 minutes
Your data. Much of the work happens on the device. For heavier requests, Apple goes through its “Private Cloud Compute” servers and says it neither keeps your data nor can access it.
What it does less well
Siri AI is not offered on iPhone or iPad in the European Union, and Apple gives no date. On Mac, it is in beta and requires a device set to English.
You need a recent device. An iPhone 15 or a Mac with an Intel processor is not compatible.
Make a paragraph more concise, without leaving your emailApple Intelligence
On your Mac, open an email or a note you are writing.
Select a paragraph that is too long with the mouse.
Right-click the selection, choose “Writing Tools,” then “Show Writing Tools.”
Choose the concise rewrite. The new text replaces the old one.
Reread it. If you do not like the result, undo with ⌘ + Z and try the professional tone.
