Create an agent by describing it
You write what the agent should do, the way you would explain it to a coworker. Copilot Studio prepares its name, description, and instructions. You then adjust the tone, the suggested questions, and the icon.
Copilot Studio is Microsoft’s workshop for building your own agents: assistants that answer from your documents and carry out tasks in your tools. You describe what the agent should do, give it its sources, test it, then publish it in Teams or in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Microsoft Copilot Studio has a free plan. The recommended plan to start with: Free trial, €0. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.
Who it’s for: companies already running Microsoft 365, and in each department the person who wants an agent to answer repetitive questions or handle a routine request.

You give the agent its sources: public websites, uploaded files, SharePoint sites, or data from your business software. It searches them to answer. With SharePoint, it respects permissions: it does not show a document the person cannot open.
An agent does more than answer. You add tools so it can create a ticket, send an email, read a list, or update a record. Microsoft advertises more than 1,500 ready-made connectors, to its own software and to others.

A free trial lets you create agents and test them in the test panel. It does not let you publish them. The authoring license itself is free, but your administrator assigns it.
This is not an individual purchase: talk to your IT team. If you already have Microsoft 365 Copilot, start with an internal agent, at no extra cost. For a trial, the free version is enough to build and test. Credits only become necessary for an agent that is autonomous or customer-facing.
Your data. Data stays in the region your company chooses, France or Europe for example, and is not used to train AI unless your administrator agrees.
