Meta AI pricing, use cases, and first steps

Meta AI is the assistant from Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. There is nothing to install: it is already in your messaging apps, behind a blue circle. You ask it a question as you would a contact, and it answers in the chat. It is also available as an app and on the web, with more features.

Meta AI has a free plan. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.

What Meta AI does

Who it’s for: people who already use WhatsApp, Instagram, or Messenger and want a quick answer without switching apps.

A question, right in your messaging app

Meta AI answers in WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook. It draws on the web for news or practical questions.

@MetaAI in a group chat

In a group, you call it by typing @MetaAI. It answers in front of everyone. It reads only the message where you called it.

Read a photo, a document, or a file

In the Meta AI app, you send a photo, a video, a document, or a file, and ask your questions about it.

Also

  • “Thinking” mode
  • Talk out loud
  • Incognito chat
  • Create images and short videos
  • The Mac app

Meta AI pricing

Prices announced by Meta in September 2026, in euros. Meta does not put numbers on the free plan’s limits.

Meta One Core€6.99 per monthYou often create images and videos
Meta One Premium€20.99 per monthThe most active content creators

What the free plan includes

Meta AI is free for everyday use, in the messaging apps, in the app, and on the web. Meta says it will stay that way.

Nova’s advice

Don’t pay anything. For asking questions and rewording messages, the free plan is enough. Meta One subscriptions are mainly for creating more images and videos for social media: this is not an office work tool.

A first try, in 2 minutes

Your data. Your private chats stay encrypted. But what you write to Meta AI is processed by Meta and can be used to train its AI, unless you object.

What it does less well

  • Europe gets new features late. The personal agent “Muse,” announced in September 2026, is offered only in the United States, and the new image tools launched there first.
  • The blue circle cannot be removed from WhatsApp. You can simply not use it.
Have a message reworded before you send itMeta AI
  1. Open WhatsApp and tap the blue circle.
  2. Copy the prompt below into the conversation with Meta AI, then send.
  3. Ask for a variation: “Warmer,” or “In two sentences.”
  4. Press and hold the answer to copy it, then paste it into your real chat.

The prompt to copy

Reword this message for a supplier, keeping it polite and brief: “Hello, I still haven’t received your delivery note. Can you send it to me before Thursday?”
