The meeting summary
Zoom writes a summary of the meeting with next steps, based on what was said. It emails it to participants and posts it in the meeting chat. You can correct it before sharing it again.
This is the assistant already inside Zoom. It writes the meeting summary, answers your questions during the call, and takes notes. It used to be called “AI Companion”: that name was retired in June 2026. The built-in features are now called “Zoom AI.” The name ZoomMate refers to the version that goes further and carries out tasks for you.
ZoomMate (Zoom AI) has a free plan. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.
Who it’s for: people whose company already uses Zoom for its meetings: there is nothing more to install.

During the meeting, you ask the assistant a question about what was just said. Three questions are ready-made: “Catch me up,” “Was my name mentioned?” and “What are the action items?”
“My Notes” takes notes for you alone, with no bot on the call. It works in Zoom, but also during a Teams or Google Meet meeting, and on your phone for an in-person conversation. After the meeting, it organizes everything into a summary and action items.

With a free Zoom account: the summary and questions for 3 hosted meetings per month, 3 “My Notes” note-taking sessions per month, and 20 AI requests per month. Free meetings are limited to 40 minutes.
If your company already pays for Zoom, you have the summary and questions at no extra charge: you just need to turn them on. Don’t pay anything more. If you’re by yourself with a free account, three meetings a month is enough to judge. ZoomMate will only be worth a look once it opens to European accounts, in French.
