Legalstart is a French online service for setting up a company in France, changing it, or closing it. You answer a questionnaire, the documents are drafted, filing specialists check the file and submit it. It’s a specialized service, with no AI assistant announced to date: what’s automated here is the drafting of documents from your answers. It also offers a business account, invoicing, and accounting.
Legalstart has a free plan. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.

What Legalstart does
Who it’s for: people setting up their company, and business owners or office managers who need to change a registered office, a director, or the articles of association.
Set up a company through a questionnaire
You answer questions. Legalstart drafts the articles of association, checks the file, publishes the legal notice, submits everything to the registration portal, and sends you the Kbis. A guarantee covers the case where the court registry rejects the file.
Change or close a company
The same approach for the life of the company: moving the registered office, changing the name or a director, changing the capital, transferring shares. And also making the company dormant, or dissolving and then liquidating it.
The business account and the capital deposit
A business account with a French IBAN, physical and virtual Mastercard cards, and free SEPA transfers. The capital deposit is done there online, with the certificate within 24 hours. The account is held by Swan, a licensed French institution.

What the free plan includes
The practical guides are free, and so are some document templates. The Starter package for a new company shows €0 excl. tax, but the mandatory legal fees still have to be paid, and a support subscription that’s free for 30 days becomes paid afterward if you don’t cancel it.
Nova’s advice
Get the online quote first: it shows the total with the legal fees. If you don’t want the support subscription, cancel it before the 30 free days are up. For a project with several partners or with tax implications, pay for an hour with a lawyer or a CPA before you start.

What it does less well
Legalstart is neither a law firm nor an accounting firm. Its terms and conditions say so: no personalized legal advice. For a shareholders’ agreement, a funding round, or tax structuring, you need a professional.
The price shown isn’t the final price. Legal fees are added, and the support subscription that’s free for 30 days becomes paid, at €29.90 per month, with no action on your part.
Price out a new company, without paying anythingLegalstart
Open legalstart.fr and go to the business creation section.
Choose a legal form, for example SASU for a single founder.
Answer the first questions in the questionnaire, with realistic answers.
When you reach the package choice, compare Starter, Standard, and Premium, and note the legal fees added.
Find the mention of the subscription that’s free for 30 days and then billed every month.
Stop before payment. You now know the real cost of the procedure.

What are the alternatives to Legalstart?
Qonto: If what you want first is a business account for your company, with its cards and management tools. Pennylane: The publisher of the Legalstart mobile app. Worth looking at directly if you already have a CPA. Doctrine: For real legal research backed by statutes and court decisions, rather than an administrative procedure.
