Speechify reads your text aloud. You give it a PDF, a Word document, a web page, or an email, and it reads it to you in a natural voice, highlighting the words as it goes. You set the speed. The app can also write as you dictate, summarize a document, and answer your questions about it.
Speechify has a free plan. The recommended plan to start with: Free, $0. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.
Who it’s for: people who have a lot to read and little time sitting down: reports, studies, long emails. Also useful for eye strain or dyslexia.

On desktop, you select text in an email, a PDF, or a document, and press a shortcut. Playback starts and a small floating player, the “Miniplayer,” appears.
For a scanned PDF, an image, or a slide, you draw a box around the text on screen. Speechify recognizes the words and reads them. On a phone, you take a photo of a paper page.
