Gemini Notebook pricing, use cases, and first steps
Gemini Notebook is the new name of NotebookLM, since July 16, 2026. You add your documents to it: PDFs, Word files, web pages, YouTube videos, recordings. It then answers your questions from those documents only, and shows the exact passage each answer comes from.
Gemini Notebook has a free plan. Prices checked on October 5, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.

What Gemini Notebook does
Who it’s for: anyone who has to digest long documents: contracts, reports, procedures, studies, meeting minutes.
Audio Overview
Two voices discuss your documents, like a radio show. There are four formats, from the brief version of under two minutes to the two-sided debate. Available in French.
Video Overview
Your sources become a narrated video, with visuals. Two formats for the office: explainer, or short (60 seconds, according to Google). Creation can take more than 30 minutes.

Gemini Notebook pricing
There is no subscription specific to Gemini Notebook: the limits rise with the Google AI plans. The per-day figures come from the table Google still publishes, reread on October 5, 2026. Another Google page has announced, since September 2, 2026, a usage meter that refills every 5 hours, with a weekly cap. Your actual allowance is shown in the settings, under usage.

What the free plan includes
100 notebooks, 50 sources per notebook, 50 questions per day, 3 Audio Overviews and 3 Video Overviews per day, 10 Deep Research searches per month.
Nova’s advice
Pay nothing to start: the free plan is more than enough for office use. If your company is on Google Workspace, Gemini Notebook is already included. A subscription only makes sense if you regularly exceed 50 sources per file or 3 Audio Overviews per day.

Google publishes daily quotas, and since September 2, 2026, has announced a meter that refills every 5 hours.

What it does less well
- It only knows what you give it. If the information is not in your sources, it will not find it.
- Audio and Video Overviews can contain errors. Check the figures in the documents before sharing them.
