Miro pricing, use cases, and first steps

Miro is an online whiteboard with no edges, where a whole team writes, adds sticky notes, and draws at the same time. AI does the tedious work: it draws a diagram from a sentence, groups dozens of sticky notes by theme, summarizes a workshop, and writes the document that comes out of it.

Miro has a free plan. The recommended plan to start with: Free, $0. Prices checked on October 3, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.

What Miro does

Who it’s for: Teams that think things through together: workshops, projects, organizing a department, a customer’s journey.

A diagram from a sentence

You describe a process, an organization, or a sequence of steps. Miro draws the diagram or mind map, with boxes and arrows. You then adjust it by hand.

Sort and summarize sticky notes

After a workshop, you select the sticky notes. AI groups them by keyword or by sentiment, then produces a summary with the main themes.

Docs, tables, and trackers created by AI

“Create with AI” also produces a written document, a tracking table, a project timeline, or a task board in columns. If you select items on the board first, it uses them as source material.

Miro pricing

Prices checked in dollars. Paying yearly saves 20% compared with paying monthly. AI credits renew each month and do not roll over; extra packs can be bought from Starter up.

What the free plan includes

3 editable boards, templates, docs, tables, and slides, more than 250 integrations, and 10 AI credits per month. No private boards.

Nova’s advice

Stay on the free plan to learn: 3 boards and 10 credits are enough to see what AI adds. Starter makes sense when the team needs private boards and runs workshops. Business is only worth it if you really use the AI partners and Flows.

A first try, in 10 minutes

Your data. Miro does not train AI on its customers’ data and offers data storage in the European Union.

What it does less well

  • AI credits go fast: 10 per month on Free, 25 on Starter. A prototype costs 5 credits per screen. They do not roll over from one month to the next.
  • A diagram drawn by AI is a first draft. It leaves out steps and sometimes invents links: always have it reviewed by someone who knows the process.
Have a diagram drawn, then your ideas sortedMiro
  1. Open a blank board and click “Create with AI,” above the creation toolbar.
  2. Ask for a diagram and paste the prompt below. The diagram lands on the board.
  3. Move a box, rename a step: everything stays editable by hand.
  4. Press N and add about ten sticky notes with the problems you run into in this process.
  5. Select all the sticky notes. In the menu that appears, open Miro AI and ask it to group them by theme, then summarize them.
  6. Share the board with a colleague so they can add to it.

The prompt to copy

Draw the path of a purchase request in a small business: employee request, manager approval, supplier quote, purchase order, receipt, invoice payment. Show who does what at each step.
