AI reads each document, pulls out the supplier, the date, the amounts, and the VAT, then suggests the accounting category. You check, and the entry goes to the accounting software.

What Dext does
Who it’s for: staff at accounting firms, in-house accountants, and any employee who has to submit invoices or expense reports.
Automatic document reading
On each document, Dext finds the supplier, the date, the amounts, and the VAT, and fills in the fields for you. The vendor claims more than 99% recognition; a review is still necessary.
Send an invoice by email
You forward the invoice to your Dext address. It is imported and read like a photo. Accepted formats: PDF, images, Word documents, and zipped folders of images.

What the free plan includes
A free account for one person: creating quotes and invoices, up to 5 e-invoices issued per year, receiving and storing documents. For the AI Assistant, the first 50 applied suggestions are free.

As an employee, you have nothing to pay: the company or the firm invites you, and the mobile app is included. If you are deciding for a small business, take the base subscription and try the AI Assistant with the 50 free suggestions before adding the add-on. The free account is not enough to process purchase invoices day to day.

What it does less well
- Automatic reading still gets crumpled, faded, or handwritten receipts wrong. Always check the amount and the VAT before you approve.
- A document sent by email takes up to 30 minutes to appear. For an urgent invoice, take a photo of it.
Photograph a receipt and watch Dext read itDext- Open the Dext app on your phone. You are in the “Costs” inbox.
- Tap the camera icon at the bottom of the screen, then the option to photograph an invoice.
- Keep “Single” mode and photograph a restaurant or parking receipt, laid flat.
- On the edit screen, crop if needed, then tap the send button.
- The document appears marked as processing: Dext is reading it.
- Then reopen it: the supplier, the date, and the amount are filled in. Check them before you approve.
