Adobe Firefly pricing, use cases, and first steps

Adobe Firefly is the generative AI tool from Adobe, the maker of Photoshop. You describe an image, a short video, or a sound, and it makes it. It also edits an existing photo: add, remove, or extend. Its own AI models are trained on licensed content, which allows commercial use. Firefly also gives you access to AI models from partners such as Google and OpenAI.

Adobe Firefly has a free plan. The recommended plan to start with: Free, €0. Prices checked on October 4, 2026 on the vendor’s official page.

What Adobe Firefly does

Who it’s for: people who need visuals for work without being designers: marketing, communications, sales, HR.

Create an image from a description

You describe the image, Firefly creates it. You can also start from an existing image or a sketch to guide the result, and ask for a professional headshot.

Edit an existing photo

“Generative Fill” replaces or erases an area you paint over: an unwanted object, a background to change. “Generative Expand” widens the frame by inventing what’s missing around it.

Create a short video

You describe a scene, or provide an image to animate. Firefly produces a clip a few seconds long. An editor then lets you assemble several clips.

Also

  • Firefly Boards: explore several directions
  • Sound, music, and voice
  • Translate a video or a recording
  • Choose which AI model does the work
  • An assistant that picks the tool for you

Adobe Firefly pricing

Prices recorded in euros on Adobe’s French site on October 3, 2026, and confirmed on October 4. A 30% first-year discount was shown until October 21 on Pro Plus (€38.80) and Premium (€155.20). Video cost checked on October 4, 2026, in Adobe’s credits FAQ (updated August 24, 2026): 20 credits per second at 540p, 50 at 720p, 100 at 1080p. The “20 videos” advertised for Standard therefore apply at 540p. Free plan: the plans page mentions credits renewed every day, the FAQ mentions credits that expire one month after they are granted; neither gives a number. Unused credits do not carry over. The iPhone app also offers a mobile subscription at €5.99 per month and credit packs.

What the free plan includes

Without a subscription, you get credits that renew every day. They let you create images, videos, and sounds, including with some partner AI models. Adobe does not state the number of daily credits on its pricing page.

Nova’s advice

Stay on the free plan as long as you create a few images a week. Choose Firefly Standard if you often edit photos or need a few videos a month. Before paying, check whether your company already has an Adobe subscription: it often includes generative credits.

Free or paid: how usage is counted

Videos, audio, and translations cost credits. Standard images are unlimited from the first paid plan.

A first try, in 5 minutes

Your data. Adobe says it does not train its Firefly AI models, or those of its partners, on your personal content.

What it does less well

  • Video is expensive in credits: a 5-second clip costs 100 credits at 540p, 250 at 720p, and 500 at 1080p. So the Standard plan allows at most 20 clips per month at 540p, or 4 at 1080p. For a real presentation video, you’ll need to assemble several clips.
  • Images can contain errors: unreadable text, an odd hand, a distorted logo. Always review before publishing, and add your text yourself.
Create an invitation visual, then edit itAdobe Firefly
  1. On firefly.adobe.com, open “Text to Image.”
  2. Paste the prompt below. Choose a landscape format if the image is going into a presentation or an email.
  3. Start the generation. Firefly offers several images: keep the one closest to your idea.
  4. Something bothering you? Open the image in “Generative Fill,” paint over the area to change, and describe what you want instead.
  5. Download the image. It carries a digital label, “Content Credentials,” showing it was created with AI.
  6. Check the image before you use it: text inside the image or a detail may be wrong.

The prompt to copy

Realistic photo of a bright seminar room, seen from the front, with rows of chairs, a large blank screen, and natural light from large windows. Professional, warm atmosphere, blue tones and light wood. No people and no text.
