What Photoroom does

Who it’s for: people who sell online or prepare a catalog: shop owners, marketing teams, marketplace sellers.

Remove a photo’s background

You import a photo, and Photoroom cuts out the product and removes everything behind it. You then place it on a white, transparent, or colored background of your choice. This operation uses no AI credits.

Create a scene with AI

You describe a mood in one sentence, and Photoroom places the product in a realistic scene. The staging tool goes further and composes a complete product photo.

Process a series of photos in one go

You import all your photos at once, choose the background, framing, and lighting, and the same setting applies to the whole series. You can still correct one image separately. Some advanced tools accept up to 250 images at a time.

Also

  • Virtual model and ghost mannequin
  • Retouch, light, recolor
  • Adapt the format to each channel
  • A short video from a photo
  • Work as a team with the brand kit

What the free plan includes

The basic tools and limited access to AI, with 100 exports per month. The free plan is reserved for personal use: it does not allow professional use, and it does not let you export a batch-processed series.

Nova’s advice

First test background removal for free, for yourself. For use at work, you need at least Pro: it is the plan that allows professional use and batch export. Move to Max only if you need videos or direct sending to Shopify.

Free or paid: how usage is counted

Two meters: credits for creating with AI, and a number of images to download each month.

A first try, in 3 minutes

Your data. Photoroom is a French company subject to GDPR; by default, your images are used to improve its AI, but you can opt out in the settings.

What it does less well

  • The free plan cannot be used for work: it is reserved for personal use.
  • A scene, a model, or a color created by AI can distort a detail of the product: logo, texture, proportions. Check each visual before publishing it, so you do not mislead the buyer.
Transform a product photo taken with your phonePhotoroom
  1. Photograph a product on a table, near a window, without worrying about the background.
  2. In Photoroom, import that photo. The background disappears on its own in a few seconds.
  3. Choose a white background: it is the format most selling sites ask for.
  4. Then try the “AI Backgrounds” tool and paste the prompt below to create a scene.
  5. Add a shadow with “AI Shadows” so the product does not look like it is floating.
  6. Export the image, then compare it with the original photo.

The prompt to copy

On a light wood table, soft morning light, a blurred green plant in the background, a simple, natural mood.
