AI training for data protection officers

AI does not give your opinion and does not decide on a notification. It turns your notes into records, finds the position of the data protection authority (CNIL in France), and prepares your templates, so your time goes to advising and to oversight.

What to check

The free plan gives you ten questions per week and two added sites. An answer can cite a text that does not apply to the case: open the source, and keep a record of your opinion.

Answer a project team’s questionOrdalie · Legal research, with your sources added
  1. In Ordalie, open the search’s source settings and add the sites cnil.fr and edpb.europa.eu.
  2. Describe the project without naming anyone, following the prompt below.
  3. Click each source to open the official text, and check that it really says what the answer claims.
  4. Reply to the team in your own words, with the reference and the conditions to meet.

The prompt to copy

A [marketing] team at a company in [industry], based in France, wants to [reuse its customers’ email addresses to send them offers from a company in the same group]. What legal basis can support this processing, under what conditions, and what information must be given to the individuals? Give the articles of the GDPR and of the French Data Protection Act, the CNIL decisions or recommendations, and the European Data Protection Board guidelines that apply. Flag the points these sources do not settle.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Lead by example: no identifiable personal data (employee, customer, person making a request) in a consumer tool or a personal account. Anonymize, or use a tool covered by a data processing agreement.
  • You are bound by secrecy and confidentiality in your duties: a rights request or an incident does not leave the approved tools.
  • Every text and every CNIL position is checked at the source. Your opinion commits your independence: keep a record of it.
  • Before adopting an AI tool, treat it like any other processing activity: record, processor, hosting location, training setting.

Never hand this to AI

  • Choosing a legal basis, a risk level, or a notification to the CNIL for you.
  • The content of an access request or a complaint, with the person’s name.
  • The details of an ongoing security incident, in a tool the company has not approved.
