Claude for training managers: write the brief for a training program, step by step

Write the brief for a training programClaude · Word file, in the conversation
  1. In Claude, paste the prompt below with what the manager told you, even as loose notes.
  2. Answer the questions Claude asks you: it is often missing the starting level and the work situation targeted.
  3. Have the manager review the objectives: the manager is the one who will say whether the training was useful.
  4. Ask: “Give me this brief as a Word file,” then send it to the providers you are consulting.

The prompt to copy

You are helping a training manager write the brief for a training program on [topic], for [number] employees in the [job title] role, at a company in [industry]. Here is what the manager said: [notes]. Before you write, ask me the missing questions, one by one. Then write: the context, the audience and its starting level, three to five objectives worded as “by the end of the training, the participant can…”, the constraints (length, place, schedule, in person or remote), the evaluation methods expected, and the items the provider must supply in its response. Add a scoring grid for the proposals, out of 20 points.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • The skills development plan is decided with leadership and presented to the works council (the CSE in France). AI sorts and formats; it does not decide.
  • Personal data: in an assistant, job titles and departments, no names. Wishes, evaluations, and career development reviews stay in the HR software.
  • Mandatory or regulatory training is checked in the regulations and with the safety manager, never on an assistant’s answer alone.
  • Any training content produced with AI is reviewed by someone who knows the job before it goes out.

Never hand this to AI

  • Choosing who goes on a training, or turning down a request, on the strength of an automatic ranking.
  • Validating a skill or a safety authorization from a generated quiz.
  • Uploading a provider’s materials to a consumer tool without its consent: they belong to the provider.
