AI training for financial advisors

AI knows neither your clients nor their goals. It takes the meeting notes, formats the wealth review, lays two policies out in a table, and finds a tax provision. The advice, its suitability for the client, and the signature stay yours.

What to check

Work from the current version of the documents and check each cell against the text. The table does not say which policy fits: that depends on the client, and it is your advice.

Compare the fees on two life insurance policiesGemini Notebook · “Studio” panel, “Data Table”
  1. Open Gemini Notebook and create a notebook, for example “Life insurance: policy A and policy B.”
  2. In the “Sources” panel, click “Add” and upload the terms and conditions, the key information documents, and the current financial appendices.
  3. In the “Chat” panel, paste the prompt below. Click each citation to read the original passage.
  4. For a table you can export to Google Sheets, open the “Studio” panel, then “Data Table.”

The prompt to copy

Compare the two policies in this notebook in a table, one row per criterion: entry fees, management fees on the euro fund and on unit-linked funds, switching fees, fees for managed options, number of funds, management options, minimum deposit, withdrawal and policy loan conditions, death benefits. For each cell, cite the document and the page. Write “not found” when the document does not say. Then list the five differences that matter most for [a 55-year-old client preparing for retirement]. Do not recommend either policy.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Duty to advise: AI formats, and you recommend and you sign. The client information form, the risk profile, and the suitability statement are your responsibility.
  • Professional secrecy and personal data: income, assets, health, and family situation do not go into a consumer assistant. Replace the names with letters and work in the firm’s team workspace.
  • A tax scale, an allowance, or a ceiling is checked at the official source, as of today’s date. The rules change with every annual finance law, and the assistant does not always know it.
  • Any number shown to the client is recalculated in your projection software. No promise of returns, and no past performance presented as a commitment.

Never hand this to AI

  • Letting an assistant choose a product, an allocation, or a risk profile for you.
  • Uploading a tax notice, an account statement, an ID document, or a notarized deed to a free tool.
  • Drafting a deed on your own or deciding on a legal structure on the strength of an AI answer, without the client’s notary or attorney.
