What to check

An assistant counts characters poorly: check the length in the platform. Reread every promise: a price or a guarantee written in an ad commits the company.

Write the variants of an adClaude · “Projects”
  1. In Claude’s left sidebar, open “Projects,” then “+ New project.” Add the product page, your selling points, and the ads that performed best.
  2. Open a conversation in the project and paste the prompt below, with the offer and the target audience.
  3. Ask for a specific change: “Three more headlines about price,” “Remove the headlines that look alike.”
  4. Check the length of a few lines in the platform, then paste the copy into your campaign.

The prompt to copy

You are helping a paid media manager write the ads for a [Google Ads Search] campaign. Product: [product, price, promise]. Target audience: [who, in what situation]. Ad group keywords: [list]. Write [15] headlines of [30] characters at most and [4] descriptions of [90] characters at most, spaces included. Vary the angles: benefit, proof, price, urgency, objection handled. Present everything in a table, with the angle and the character count of each line. Don’t invent any number, customer review, or promotion: rely on the project documents.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • You answer for what your ads say: no price, no promise, no generated review goes out without your review.
  • Exports sometimes contain personal data (customer lists, emails, audiences): remove those columns before uploading a file to a consumer tool.
  • Recalculate a known total before sharing a number: an assistant can misread a column or mix up two periods.
  • Health, finance, alcohol, gambling: advertising in these areas is regulated by law. Have the copy approved by your legal team, not by an assistant.

Never hand this to AI

  • Customer files and named audiences in a consumer tool.
  • Fabricating fake reviews, fake testimonials, or a fake “before and after.”
  • Letting an assistant decide on its own to cut a campaign or move a budget.
