AI training for marketing managers

AI does not decide your positioning. It speeds up what surrounds it: market monitoring, the brief, the first draft of an email or a visual, reading the results. Then you make the call, with your numbers and your knowledge of your customers.

What to check

A cited source is not always summarized well: open each competitor’s pricing page before you reuse a number. The free plan gives one “Research” report per month.

Review the competition before a launchPerplexity · “Research”
  1. In Perplexity, click in the search field, open the mode selector, and choose “Research.”
  2. Paste the prompt below, describing your offer and your competitors in the brackets.
  3. Click the numbers in the answer: each one opens the page the information comes from. Open at least each competitor’s pricing page.
  4. Export the report as a PDF, correct what is out of date, and use the table in your launch memo.

The prompt to copy

You are preparing a competitive review for a marketing manager. Our offer: [product or service, target audience, price]. Competitors to study: [names]. For each one, give in a table: the promise shown on the home page, the published plans and prices, the target audience, the launches and announcements of the last six months, the channels where it communicates most. End with three angles nobody occupies yet. Give the source and the date of each piece of information, and write “not found” rather than guessing.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • A customer or prospect list contains personal data: remove names, emails, and phone numbers before you analyze an export, and do not upload any of it to a personal assistant.
  • Email and SMS: write only to contacts you are allowed to reach, with a simple way to unsubscribe. If in doubt, ask your data protection officer.
  • Every number, every price, and every promise in a generated text gets checked before publication: a false claim commits the company.
  • An unannounced launch, budget, or plan does not go in a consumer tool: use the company workspace, where your content is not used for training.

Never hand this to AI

  • The brand’s positioning and promise: AI suggests directions, and you make the call.
  • Publishing a text or a visual in the company’s name without a person having reviewed it.
  • Making up a customer testimonial, a review, or a satisfaction figure.
