AI training for pharmacists

AI doesn’t verify a prescription and replaces neither your judgment nor your official databases. It helps you train the team, write your procedures, prepare your patient consultations, and read your numbers. No patient data leaves the pharmacy.

What to check

It only knows what you upload: check the date of each document. It replaces neither your pharmacy software, nor its drug database, nor the review of a prescription. No prescription and no patient name in the notebook.

Find a rule in an official documentGemini Notebook · “Chat” panel
  1. From the official websites, download the documents you rely on: guidelines, proper-use sheets, the vaccination schedule, in their latest version.
  2. Create one notebook per topic, for example “Vaccination at the pharmacy” or “Anticoagulants.” In the “Sources” panel, click “Add” and upload the documents.
  3. In the “Chat” panel, paste the prompt below.
  4. Click the number of each citation to read the original passage before you answer.

The prompt to copy

Using only the sources in this notebook, what do these documents say about [the question: for example, which people a pharmacist can vaccinate against the flu and the situations where the pharmacist must refer to a physician]? Give the rule as it is written, its exceptions, and the cases where the document calls for medical advice. Cite the document, its date, and the page for each point. If two documents disagree, show both passages. If the sources don’t address the question, write “not addressed” without extrapolating.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Professional confidentiality: no prescription, no name, no social security number, no dispensing history in a consumer assistant. That data stays in your pharmacy software.
  • Reviewing the prescription, checking interactions, and deciding to dispense or refuse are yours. They rely on your official databases, not on an assistant.
  • Any dose, interaction, dispensing rule, or billing rule cited by an assistant gets checked at the source. It can be confidently wrong.
  • Public information remains governed by your code of ethics: reread every poster and every post with that in mind.

Never hand this to AI

  • Asking it whether a prescription is correct, whether two medicines are compatible for a patient, or what dose to dispense.
  • Photographing or uploading a prescription, an insurance claim form, or a health insurance card to an online tool.
  • Displaying, publishing, or handing over a generated text you haven’t reread line by line.
