AI training for dietitians

AI does not do your assessment and does not decide on any care plan. It formats the guidelines you set, finds a recommendation, writes from your dictation, and prepares your workshops. Your patients’ data stays out of online assistants.

Claude for dietitians: turn your guidelines into a week of menus, step by step

  • 15 min
  • every week

What to check

The guidelines are yours: the assistant applies them, it does not choose the portions or the foods. Give constraints, never the person’s identity or their file. Review allergens and quantities line by line.

Turn your guidelines into a week of menusClaude · Word file, in the conversation
  1. Write down the guidelines you settled on, in your own words: meal structure, portions, foods to favor, to limit, to avoid. No patient name or data.
  2. In Claude, paste the prompt below, followed by your guidelines.
  3. Review each day, correct the portions, and remove whatever does not suit the person.
  4. Ask: “Give me a Word file, one table per day,” then hand it over at the appointment.

The prompt to copy

You are helping me format a week of menus, based on the guidelines I set during a dietetic appointment. Here are those guidelines: [meal structure, portions per meal, foods to favor, to limit, to avoid]. Practical constraints: [tight budget, little time at lunch, no oven, season: fall, foods the person refuses]. Propose seven days with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and [one snack], with simple dishes and quantities in household measures. Follow my guidelines strictly: add no nutrition advice, no food I have excluded, no calorie calculation. If a constraint makes a guideline impossible to follow, ask me instead of deciding.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Professional confidentiality and health data: no name, no weight, no lab results, no food diary from a patient in a consumer assistant.
  • The assessment, the goals, and the guidelines are yours, within the medical prescription when there is one. AI formats what you have decided.
  • Every number is checked at the source: intake, portion, threshold, frequency. Nutritional values come from your food composition table, not from an assistant.
  • Every document given to a patient is reviewed line by line, allergens included. Dictate reports with a model that runs on your computer.

Never hand this to AI

  • Describing a patient to it and asking for a diet, a calorie intake, or a weight goal.
  • Photographing a blood test, a prescription, or a food diary to upload it to an online tool.
  • Publishing or handing out generated nutrition advice that you have not reviewed and tied to a source.
