AI training for CFOs

AI doesn’t decide for you. It drafts the memo to management, reviews a contract, queries your cash position, and tracks regulations. Your time goes to the judgment calls and to conversations with the bank and the CEO.

What to check

A cited source is not always summarized correctly. Open the official pages, check their date, and decide nothing based on a text you haven’t read. The free plan gives you one “Research” report per month.

Get up to speed on a regulatory requirementPerplexity · Research
  1. In Perplexity, click in the search field, open the mode selector, and choose “Research.”
  2. Paste the prompt below, describing your company in the brackets.
  3. Wait for the report, then click the source numbers to open the official pages.
  4. Export the report as a PDF and have your accountant or your lawyer confirm the sensitive points.

The prompt to copy

Give me an update on [the e-invoicing requirement] for [a French SMB with 80 employees, subject to VAT, that sells to businesses]. I want: the effective dates, the requirements for issuing and receiving invoices, the penalties, and what to prepare between now and then. Rely first on official sites (impots.gouv.fr, economie.gouv.fr, Légifrance) and give the date of each source. Flag what has changed recently and what is still uncertain. End with a list of ten actions, ranked by urgency.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • AI prepares, you decide. A forecast, a contract, or a memo to the board carries your signature, not the tool’s.
  • Financial statements, cash, payroll: only in a work account where content is not used for training. Check where the data is hosted.
  • Any figure meant for the board, the bank, or an investor gets recalculated from the financial statements.
  • Before you connect an assistant to the bank, the accounting system, or spending, set who has access and what it can do: read, never pay.

Never hand this to AI

  • Approving a wire transfer or a change of bank details prepared by an agent, with no human check.
  • Uploading an acquisition plan, a funding round, or unpublished financial statements to a consumer tool.
  • Settling a tax or legal question on an assistant’s answer alone, without your usual advisor.
