What to check

Perplexity can misread a study or cite an outdated number: open every source. Write nothing about your own plans: by default, your searches are used to improve the tool. The free plan gives you one “Research” report per month.

Compare our policy with market practicesPerplexity · “Research”
  1. In Perplexity, click in the search field, open the mode selector, and choose “Research.”
  2. Paste the prompt below, with your topic and your industry in the brackets. The report arrives in a few minutes.
  3. Click the source numbers: keep the published studies and agreements, and set aside the articles with no numbers.
  4. Export the report as a PDF and use in your memo only the items you have verified.

The prompt to copy

You are helping the HR director of a French company with [headcount] employees, in the [industry] industry. I want to know what comparable companies in France are doing on [topic: remote work, the four-day week, the value-sharing bonus]. Rely on studies less than two years old, published company agreements, and public sources, and give the link for each one. Present the result in a table: practice, share of companies or example, source, date. Distinguish what is a legal obligation from what is a company choice. Flag the numbers that come from a survey commissioned by a vendor.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • No decision about a person is made on the word of an AI: promotion, disciplinary measure, termination, ranking. The tool prepares; you decide, and you can explain the decision.
  • Personal data: in an assistant, totals and averages by category, never a name, an individual salary, or a health situation. The files stay in the HR software.
  • Before rolling out an AI tool that affects work or employee data, inform employees, consult the works council (the CSE in France), and involve the data protection officer.
  • Employment law is checked in the published text, in your agreements, and in your collective bargaining agreement. For a termination, an agreement, or a dispute, your attorney signs off.

Never hand this to AI

  • Drafting a collective agreement, a dismissal letter, or a settlement agreement on your own.
  • Scoring, ranking, or comparing employees with one another, or predicting a departure.
  • Health data, disciplinary files, and the materials of an internal investigation.
