AI training for landscapers

AI doesn’t plant a tree and doesn’t know your soil. It helps with the rest: the quote written up after the site visit, an image of the project to show the client, the schedule for a maintenance contract, the visit report, the seasonal follow-up.

What to check

Wispr always sends your voice to its servers and does not work without a connection. The free plan stops at 1,000 words per week on phone. No photo that shows a person, a license plate, or the inside of the house. Dictate only when parked.

Dictate a maintenance visit reportWispr Flow · Dictation on your phone
  1. Before you leave, take one or two photos of the garden, then open an email or a text message to the client and tap the text area.
  2. On iPhone, hold the globe icon on the keyboard and choose “Wispr Flow.” On Android, tap the “Flow” bubble.
  3. Dictate following the outline below, the way you would explain it to the client. The text is written with punctuation, without the hesitations.
  4. Reread, attach the photos, and send. Add plant names in the “Dictionary” tab so they are spelled right next time.

The prompt to copy

Visit on [date] at [Ms., Mr.] [name]’s, [address]. Work done: [mowing and edging, trimming the hornbeam hedge, weeding the beds, leaf cleanup]. Green waste: [hauled away, or chipped and left as mulch]. What I noticed: [a shrub suffering from drought, a leak in the irrigation, spots on the boxwood]. What I recommend planning for: [work to be quoted]. Next visit planned: [week or date]. Time on site: [duration], with a crew of [number].

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Plants are not chosen on a tool’s answer. Soil, climate, exposure, variety: your site visit, your experience, and your nursery decide.
  • A signed quote and a maintenance contract commit you. Quantities, visits, prices, VAT, and plant guarantee: you are the one who sets them and writes them.
  • Treatment products, tree work at height, work near buried utilities: the regulations, your certifications, and the product label come before any advice from an assistant.
  • Photos of a garden and a client’s name and address are personal data. Write only to the clients concerned, and publish nothing without consent.

Never hand this to AI

  • Having a disease or a pest identified from a photo, then treating on that answer alone.
  • Presenting an AI-created image as the guaranteed result, or as one of your finished projects.
  • Telling a client about a tax credit or a VAT rate without checking that it applies to your company and to this work.
