AI training for physical therapists

AI does not do your evaluation or choose a treatment. It helps you write up the exercises you already demonstrate, dictate your reports, keep up with the research, and run the practice. Your patients’ data stays out of online assistants.

What to check

The meter is based on 5 to 20 studies: it shows a trend, not a treatment for a patient. Ask the question with nothing that identifies anyone. Official guidelines, the prescription, and your evaluation come first.

Check what the studies say about a techniqueConsensus · “Medical Mode,” in the “Corpus” menu
  1. On consensus.app/search, open the “Corpus” menu in the search bar and limit the search to the selection of medical papers.
  2. Ask a closed question, one that can be answered yes or no, based on the prompt below.
  3. Look at the “Consensus Meter,” then read the answer: each sentence points to its study.
  4. Open the “Snapshot” tab of the studies that matter: population, sample size, method. Read the paper before you change a practice.

The prompt to copy

In [the population: for example, adults with chronic nonspecific low back pain], does [the intervention: a supervised active exercise program] reduce [the outcome: pain and disability at twelve months] more than [the comparator: passive techniques alone]? Systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials only, published since [2015], with more than [100] participants. Present the results in a table: study, population, program, follow-up period, measured effect, limitations.

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Professional confidentiality and health data: no names, no evaluations, no prescriptions, no patient photos or videos in a consumer tool.
  • The evaluation, the choice of techniques, and the progression are yours. AI formats what you have decided; it does not propose a treatment for a patient.
  • A study is not a protocol: read the paper, and weigh it against the official guidelines and your examination of the patient.
  • Dictate reports with a model that runs on your computer. Any document given to a patient is reread line by line.

Never hand this to AI

  • Describing a patient to it and asking what to do, how many sessions to plan, or when to return to sports.
  • Filming or photographing a patient with a consumer app, even with their verbal consent.
  • Handing over a generated exercise program you have not reread and adapted to the person.
