AI training for driving instructors

AI doesn’t sit next to the student and doesn’t hold the dual controls. It helps you between two lessons: dictating the lesson report, preparing a theory class, building a quiz from your materials, writing to parents, finding another way to explain what isn’t getting through.

Wispr Flow for driving instructors: dictate the report after each lesson, step by step

  • 3 min
  • every day

What to check

Never during the lesson: you dictate while stopped, alone in the vehicle. Wispr sends your voice to its servers: a first name or a file number is enough, with no last name and no comment on the student’s health. The free plan stops at 1,000 words per week on phone.

Dictate the report after each lessonWispr Flow · Dictation on your phone
  1. Once the student is out and the vehicle is parked, open their record in your driving school software and tap the comment field.
  2. On iPhone, hold the globe icon on the keyboard and choose “Wispr Flow.” On Android, tap the “Flow” bubble.
  3. Dictate following the outline below. The text is written with punctuation, without the hesitations.
  4. Reread it, then enter the validated skills in the learner logbook. Add the names of your routes and intersections in the “Dictionary” tab.

The prompt to copy

Lesson on [date], hour number [number], student [first name or file number]. Route: [city, highways, parking lot]. Worked on today: [merging onto a highway, two-lane roundabouts, parallel parking on the right]. Mastered: [checks before changing lanes, appropriate speed]. To work on again: [looking too close ahead, turn signal forgotten when exiting a roundabout]. Interventions on my part: [one braking on the dual controls at a given spot, two spoken reminders]. Level of independence: [guided, semi-independent, independent]. Next lesson: [driving in dense city traffic, then a review]. To tell the student: [one positive point, one point to work on].

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Never a screen during the lesson: you’re responsible for the vehicle and the student. Everything described here is done while stopped, between two lessons.
  • Your students are often minors. Their name, address, results, and difficulties are personal data: a first name or a file number is enough in a consumer assistant.
  • The traffic code and the official training standards are the reference. An assistant can get a rule, a distance, or a penalty wrong: check every figure at the source before you teach it.
  • Assessing the student and deciding to send them to the exam are yours: AI shapes your observations, it doesn’t judge anyone.

Never hand this to AI

  • Letting an assistant say how many hours a student needs, or whether they’re ready for the exam.
  • Teaching a rule, a distance, or a penalty given by AI without checking it in the traffic code.
  • Illustrating an intersection or a maneuver with an AI-generated image: the diagram can be wrong.
