AI training for hairstylists

AI does not cut, color, or advise in your place. It helps you between two clients: the post of the week, the reply to a review, the message that fills a slow Tuesday, online booking, the product order.

What to check

In your reply, do not mention the person’s name, their service, or any detail that could identify them.

Reply to an online client reviewChatGPT · “Chat” mode
  1. Copy the review, without the person’s name.
  2. In ChatGPT, in “Chat” mode, paste the prompt below, then the review.
  3. Ask for “shorter” or “less defensive” until the reply sounds like you.
  4. Wait an hour, reread it, then post it under the review.

The prompt to copy

I run a hair salon and I received this negative review. What happened on my side: [your version, in two sentences]. What I can offer: [a free touch-up, an appointment to talk about it, nothing]. Write a five-line public reply: thank the person, acknowledge what is true, calmly correct what is inaccurate without accusing, say what I am offering, invite them to contact me directly. Write for the future clients who will read the exchange. No irony, and no information about this person, their hair, or their service. Review: [paste the review].

Ground rules

The rules to follow with AI in this job

Always do this

  • Color is decided at the chair: hair diagnosis, manufacturer’s instructions, patch test. An assistant sees neither the hair nor the scalp.
  • No photo or video of a client without written consent, and the parents’ consent for a minor. Image rights apply to a before-and-after too.
  • Your client list contains personal data. An allergy, a pregnancy, or a medical treatment is health data: it stays in your own files, never in a consumer assistant.
  • Posted prices, promotions, and messages to clients are binding on you: reread every number and every date before you post or send.

Never hand this to AI

  • Asking an assistant for a color formula, a processing time, or the steps for a bleaching service.
  • Posting an image created or retouched by AI as the result of your work.
  • Replying to a review by revealing the person’s service, health, or identity.
